Let the forest enchant this summer's UK holidays
Families looking for a getaway during the summer break may be interested to read about ideas for UK holidays in the National Forest in the midlands.
A number of activities are available for children of all ages, as well as their parents.
Rosliston Forestry Centre is holding a programme called Get Active in the Forest, in which visitors can select up to five things to do out of a list that includes such activities as climbing, archery, sumo-suit wrestling and kite-making. At such a cheap price, families can save a little
holiday money for the rest of their UK holidays.
Other events are also held at the centre this summer, such as owl evenings, pond dipping and family fun days.
A range of different animals and birds regularly visit the site and there are also fake animals for the littlest ones to play with.
For something a little different, families on UK holidays may want to stop by Conkers, a hands-on attraction in the middle of the forest.
An interactive enchanted forest offers several hundred metres of tunnels through which adults and children can crawl, imagining they are experiencing their surroundings as a woodland creature.
And for parents who want something a little more adult-friendly on their UK holidays, the Heart of the Forest open-top bus tour will be running every Friday from July 6th. Passengers can hop on and off where they like within the forest.
